A few weeks before you are due, it’s time not only to start getting all  the newborn essentials described in our checklist, but also to gather all the items you’ll need during labour and for after your little one(s) is(are) born. And when preparing the hospital bag, it’s generally a good idea to have two bags packed – one for you and another for the baby make things easier to find once in the hospital – by the time you are about 36 weeks pregnant. Although you might not need all that is in this hospital bag – especially if you will only stay a day or two in the hospital, you might as well be 100% prepared for this life-changing experience. Hospital Bag For labour

• T-Shirt / nightwear
• Socks
• Slippers
• 2 x cotton flannel
• Hairbands or clips
• Lip balm
• Multi-purpose pillow
• Camera and mobile
• Maternity notes and birth plan

Nice to have: TENS machine, massage oil, facial spray, magazines, snacks, bottled water, whatever will help you relax!

For you (post delivery)
• 1 x Dressing gown
• 1 x Nursing nightgown (with front opening for breast feeding)
• 1 pack of disposable knickers
• 1 pack of sanitary pads
• 2 x Nursing / sleeping bra
• 1 pack of breast pads
• Nipple cream
• Toiletries
• Toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush
• Make-up kit
• Towel
• Going home outfit and jacket (still maternity clothes I am afraid)

Nice to have: ear plugs, tea tree oil or Arnica tablets to help ease the bruising

• Cotton wool balls
• nappy cream
• 2 x muslin square
• 1 x bib
• Infant car seat
